This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and safeguard personal information when you use the LAS app, website, or related services (collectively, "LAS Services").

By using LAS Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using LAS Services.

2. Children's Privacy & Global Compliance

LAS is designed for educational use by minors and strictly complies with international regulations:

2.1 Parental Consent

Children under the applicable digital age of consent (13 to 16, depending on country) may use LAS only with verified parental consent. We use legally accepted verification methods such as email verification, in-app verification, or school-verified consent.

2.2 No Behavioural Advertising

LAS strictly prohibits the monetization of child data. We do NOT:

• Serve targeted ads to children.
• Sell children's personal data.
• Use data for profiling or behavioural marketing.

3. Personal Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate LAS Services.

3.1 Information from Parents/Adults

• Name and surname
• Email address
• Account credentials
• Subscription details
• Payment-related identifiers (processed by Stripe; LAS never stores full credit card data)

3.2 Information About Children

We do not request full addresses, phone numbers, government IDs, or biometrics for children. We collect:

• First name or nickname
• Age or age band
• School or teacher association (optional)
• Educational preferences and LAS learning data
• Progress data (e.g., vocabulary lists, homework diary entries, revision logs)

3.3 Automatically Collected Data

To improve performance and prevent abuse, we collect device type, operating system, IP address (region-only logging for legal obligations), and app interaction logs.

4. How We Use Personal Information

We use information only for legitimate educational and operational purposes:

• App Functionality: To manage accounts, deliver AI tutoring, provide the Homework Diary, and track progress.
• Safety & Compliance: To verify parental consent, prevent fraud, and comply with child protection laws.
• Communication: To send parent reports and notify users of updates.
• Improvements: To fix bugs, improve AI accuracy, and analyze anonymized usage patterns.

We never use children's personal data for advertising or sale.

5. Legal Bases for Processing

Depending on your location, we process data under the following legal bases: parental consent, performance of a contract, legitimate interests (security/improvement), legal obligation, and school authorization (FERPA/GDPR).

6. Data Sharing & Disclosure

LAS does not sell personal information. We may share data only with:

• Service Providers (Processors): Cloud hosting, Stripe (payments), and support systems. All are contractually bound to strict confidentiality.
• Schools/Teachers: Only where a parent or law permits educational data sharing.
• Legal Requirements: If required to protect a child, comply with court orders, or report safety threats.

7. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and stored in the United States or other jurisdictions. We use legally recognized safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), Data Processing Agreements, and POPIA cross-border compliance measures.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for educational purposes or legal compliance. Deleted account data is removed within 30 days. School data is retained per FERPA/GDPR requirements.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to withdraw consent. LAS provides simple interfaces for parents to access, review, or delete their children's data at any time.

10. Security Measures

LAS uses industry-standard safeguards including encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access controls, isolated databases, AI safety filters, and regular penetration testing.

11. AI Features & Data Use

The LAS AI tutor ("Ezi AI") processes educational responses and revision logs to provide assistance. LAS AI does not train on identifiable child data. All training uses anonymized, aggregated, or synthetic data where permitted.

12. School-Specific Privacy

For school use, LAS acts as a data processor. The school remains the data controller. A separate School Data Processing Addendum applies, and LAS does not disclose student information to third parties except as required to provide the service.
